Agriculture
Agriculture can be defined as the backbone of the world. It is one of the significant parts contributing to us. We can consider agriculture as the foundation of our lives.
Producing crops, raising domestic animals, delivering them fresh and ready to use is a part of agriculture. Not only is agriculture limited to farms and domestic animals, but there is a lot of science involved in this. Scientists are casting about methods for improving agriculture and techniques. There are many profitable agricultural businesses.
Some of them are agricultural farms, vermicompost organic fertilizer production, a dried flower business, organic farm greenhouse, and 20+ areas in agriculture. The most basic, crucial, and popular business in this field is the farmers’ market. The idea of farmers’ markets is to form a direct relationship between the farmers and the buyers. It is propitious for both — the farmers and the consumers.
As the farmers get the worthy price of their assiduous efforts and the consumers get the products fresh from the farm and at a reasonable rate. As per survey done by a top school, New York is the state with the maximum number of farmers’ markets (850 approximately). Not only do consumers get fresh and seasonable vegetables and fruits, but there is also a wide variety of farmers bringing homemade loaves of bread, beverages, etc.
What else does one need other than having fresh veggies and fruits without tearing your pockets? The price range for farmers’ markets cannot be exactly defined. For being a part of the farmers’ market at some places, you need to spend a fee of around 10$-45$(approximately) to book a spot where you would take all your stuff to sell. At many places, there is no fee to book a spot, you just need to grab your stuff on the cart, and you are good to go.
Also, there are places where the procedure is kind of hectic. One needs to submit a short description of what you are going to sell, a picture of your product and how you are going to display it, etc. The complications in the farmers’ market can be faced by the farmers who have a limited source of income from their farms.
There is a possibility that at a certain point, there would be no spot left for the vendors due to a large number of vendors participating in the market. Due to many options in the market, it may happen that people won’t buy all their requirements from a specific or from one vendor.
PROS:
It is one of the best ways for small vendors with fewer items to have a good amount of income from the farmers’ market.
The consumers get good quality of the product at a reasonable price.
A large number of the same items increase options for the consumers. They can buy from any of the vendors, selling the same thing with good quality and price.
CONS:
The place where the spots require a booking fee would not appear a good idea for the vendors with fewer resources or small farms.
There can be a bit of struggle for the vendors with a small number of resources when there is a tough competition in front of them having a lot of things on their cart as the buyer would prefer to buy all the things they need from a place without wandering.
The vendors must keep in my that the vegetables, fruits, and all the items which they are displaying on their cart should not be stale or of bad quality as it would ruin the image of the vendor and decrease the rate of the business. The presentation of the cart should be a bit appealing for attracting the customers.
