Boarding schools are getting popular day by day amongst parents all over the world. It is believed that these schools provide the right environment for the proper growth and development of children.

Boarding schools in India help students in building a strong sense of community, giving them a feeling of belonging within a group. Interacting with other students around campus and through common interests helps students learn to connect with others and work together to achieve goals.

A top boarding school typically offer more than just education opportunities for students to develop various skills and discover interests like sports, art, drama, and music.

However, these schools aren’t perfect and therefore if you are planning to send your child to a boarding school, you should be aware of the disadvantages that come with it.

Expensive: The cost of a boarding school can be very expensive. Most of the time the schools have a lot of hidden charges that you’ll have to keep paying additional to the fees. Even if your child has entered the school through a scholarship you will still be required to pay the additional pages. The schools also organize excursions that require additional amounts. There is always an option to not go but your child might feel left out

Bullying: Bullying is common in a lot of schools, although schools nowadays are growing aware of this problem, not enough is being done to solve this problem.

While private schools are often portrayed as better, private schools have all the same problems that public schools do. Unlike day boarding schools where bullying is reported to the police, bullying in boarding schools stays hidden and if it goes too far, parents may not hear about it until it’s too late.

Stress: Boarding Schools can be a difficult and isolating place for any young child. The anxiety and stress many kids feel due to social anxiety or academic pressure can be high. When you send your child or teenager away to boarding school, they will likely be exposed to higher levels of academic pressure than they’ve seen before.

This extra pressure may be too much for some students and could end up confusing them and leading them to question why they’re even at the school in the first place. While this may seem like a harmless disadvantage, it could end up hurting your child’s self-esteem and academic performance.

Rules and restrictions: There is a lot of structure — you have to be at all your classes on time, you get woken up at 6 AM 6 days a week, and get locked in the building after dark. Students have to live on campus like in dorms and aren’t allowed to go out, this may prevent them from making peers outside of their school. They can go home once or twice a semester and in some cases, this is also determined by their grades which can be depressing for a child. A restrictive environment may prevent them from having a lot of other experiences.
