Factors to consider when sending your child to an International school
International schools in India offer a world class education by harnessing local and international expertise. According to reports, these schools practice an interactive and engaging method of teaching and learning that helps international students excel and grow into future leaders.
Graded as A+ or equivalent by the Ministry of HRD, these schools are affiliated with international boards such as IGCSE (Cambridge), IB (International Baccalaureate) and ISC (University of Cambridge). Students explore different cultures, travel across the country every year as part of the curriculum and enjoy an enriched learning experience like nowhere else through social integration, multicultural activities, field
Choosing the right international school for your child is very important, when choosing an international school that you’re looking for look out for these things
Curriculum:
When you think that your child will be going to an international school you hope that your child will be exposed to an international environment. However that is not always the case, some schools just add international in their name even though they don’t follow an international curriculum.
Make sure that the school you plan to enroll your child, apart from CBSE, also provides an option to study in International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum from Switzerland or IGCSE from Cambridge, UK.
Class Size:
Teacher to student(or student to teacher) ratio is very important as you can gauge how much attention your child will be given. Make sure that the ratio is not more than 25:1. The lesser the ratio the more attention your child will be given by the teacher. When the student to teacher ratio is less the chances of your child improving increase tremendously.
It’s not just about having the possibility of a quiet learning environment but also about reducing distractions and helping kids feel more comfortable speaking up when they haven’t mastered a skill or if something is confusing to them. That kind of supportive environment helps our children learn and grow.
Fees and Facilities:
International schools are usually expensive but remember to keep an account for what you are paying for. Make sure that the school provides good facilities for students and options when it comes to sports and extracurricular activities.
Try to keep them in proportion to the fees and remember to keep your child’s preference in mind. If your child doesn’t enjoy sports but might enjoy learning a new language then it will be wiser to choose a school that allows your child to learn a new language.
Reputation:
A school’s reputation can tell you a lot about the school, it provides you with information that the school doesn’t directly provide. A solid reputation down the long years comes from a commitment to excellence, honest academic standards, and a nurturing campus atmosphere.
You can find out about a school’s reputation by looking for reviews online, asking mutual friends and even finding out about their alumni. A school may boast that they have a lot of good sports equipment or the boarding hostels are well equipped and clean but these can only be correctly determined by asking previous students.
