Sport is an integral part of every student’s life. Sports teaches students to be strict, punctual, and active. They need to stay fit and healthy. Exercising and playing outdoor games help children learn better as well as lose stress and energy. Thus, we must keep sports in the school curriculum as it plays a vital role in the overall development of a child.
Sports In Schools
Sports in Schools is a program initiated by our PM, Mr. Manmohan Singh, in 2005. It aims at Samarpan jeene ki aur (empathy for sports and games). He believes that by introducing sports, we will be able to develop confidence in children. They will become responsible citizens of our country and increase their co-curricular activities in schools and colleges. Sports in educational institutions like schools and colleges play a crucial role in developing a child physically, mentally, and educationally.
Study shows that students in schools in India with a good sports program have a higher overall GPA, according to a survey conducted in 2009. The study showed that out of the group of high school students surveyed who had access to a good sports program, only 35 percent dropped out of school at the end of the 4th grade.
In schools with no sports programs available, 60 percent dropped out by the end of their senior year. A similar study done by a top international school showed that adolescents from low-income families were more likely to graduate from school if they had access to an extracurricular activity such as youth sports.

Conclusion
Sports play a vital role in bringing adolescent kids together. It provides them with physical exercise and develops self-confidence, team spirit, and cooperative abilities among participants. It undoubtedly contributes to students’ development of personal and mental skills such as motivation, co, communication, and bullying prevention. Moreover, it instills a sense of community spirit and identity into students’ lives. This will undoubtedly help students enhance their physical fitness and earn more success in the future.
The importance of sports in schools is paramount to students’ overall development. More and more students are getting involved in sports during their high school years, which is a very good thing for their health, yet it’s almost looked down upon by parents. Schools should consider adding more sports programs to allow every student to get involved, and even if the sport isn’t the student’s best, it will still be a great experience and teach them a skill they can apply later in life.
