Why Junk food should be banned in schools?

Junk food should be banned in schools because it is not a positive example for children to eat such food. For example, junk food may cause children to gain excess weight and become obese.

Obese children are less likely than other children to grow up healthy. When they are obese at an early age, they are more likely to suffer from heart disease later in life.

Junk food contains high levels of fat and sugar which can cause obesity and diabetes if consumed regularly over a long period of time. Eating too much junk food can lead to weight gain and obesity which can increase the risk of developing type 2 diabetes, heart disease and some cancers

Although banning junk food in schools would help lower the rate at which children consume it, it would not entirely eliminate it. Children often have access to money which they can spend on junk food outside school premises; therefore, they can still purchase and consume it even after school hours

. It is better that they are educated about junk foods negative effects rather than banning them from consuming it altogether. Knowledge is power and if children understand why their health is at risk then they will be able to make informed decisions about what foods are bad for their health.

In addition, if parents and teachers educate children about the risks associated with consuming junk food, these children will be able to make the right choices when purchasing food from school.
