So your child wants to attend a boarding school and now you aren’t sure whether to send them or not because you feel like they might be too young or too old for it.

Boarding schools in India are a tried and tested way for turning children into resourceful and happy human beings. Researchers believe that children should be sent to boarding schools when they are done with their kindergarten years and have spent a couple of years in school.

It’s so because by this time kids have learned to communicate and are able to interact with the new people they have met. They have also grasped an understanding of how a school works and a basic outline of how schools work. Since they have started attending school your child has also learnt to spend an extended amount of time without their parents.

You might feel that you should not miss the benefit of letting them attend school from the very beginning but sending your child before this age might have negative impacts on them. The most important thing to remember is that your child is clearly not ready for learning and requires more time to mature.

Furthermore it is a sign to send your child to a boarding school if they are restless and are getting annoyed. Boarding schools are especially good for growing kids who have gone a bit wild and think they know it all. Boarding schools provide structure and order to the day, as well as teachers and older kids who can set a proper example.

So if your child is in the age group of 8–13 it might be the right time to send them to a boarding school.

Boarding schools usually offer different style boarding options — PG group dormitories, individual houses for senior pupils and singles. It is up to you to decide which option you think is best for your son or daughter.

Parents should consider sending their children to boarding schools if they can afford it, since boarding schools provide ample opportunities to learn . Kids who attend day schools are prone to be over-parented which is detrimental to your child’s development as an individual. Boarding schools can be a wonderful place for pre-teens to get the social and academic education they need to pursue their goals.

At a top boarding school in India, children have the opportunity to interact closely with new people, develop independently from their parents, and study at their own pace of learning. This can be a great change for a child that has been an only child or a difficult home situation which could distract them from focusing on academics.

It is also important to choose the right boarding school for your child. A good boarding school will have small class sizes, a small student teacher ratio, experienced teachers, and an activeness program complementing the academic scheme to give your child every opportunity to grow.
