So I will be covering what a school actually looks like and the schedule which is followed in India schools.

In India we have both public and private schools, most parents prefer to send their children to private schools because public schools here are in really bad conditions and most of them don’t even provide basic necessities to facilitate learning (not enough classrooms, unqualified teachers, no washrooms) but private schools are no good they just provide basic amenities for classroom education.

Typically a school will have classrooms for different grades with sections named alphabetically. The number of sections in a grade typically go up to D but there are schools in the country where you will find sections till R. Every school has a different system to divide children in sections by grades but most schools try to keep an equal number of children with good and bad grades in every section.

Schools also often shuffle grades when a new session starts and so it is a sight to behold when during the start of a new academic year you see a lot of kids crying because they have been separated from their friends.

For grades 11th and 12th students have to choose a stream and here sections are formed according to the streams you have chosen which are Science(Maths), Science(biology), Commerce and Arts or Humanities.

Schools in India also have a lot of labs and these labs are divided into junior and senior so there will be a junior science lab for students upto class 10th and then for classes 11th and 12th there will be labs for physics, chemistry, biology there aren’t a lot of labs for subjects like history or economics for seniors.

The school has a cafeteria and the food they provide could vary from location to location but we don’t have standard meals we just have standalone dishes which range from bakery products to north Indian or South Indian cuisines.

They also have a lot of munchies, toffees, chocolates and cold drinks. Schools try to promote healthy food in their cafeteria but most of these are run by external contractors who want to maximize profits and what sells better than fast food.

We also have at least a ground where assembly is conducted every morning and where students go for their P.T. classes. Schools also have an auditorium for special events like annual day, competitions, et cetera, but these are also used to conduct assemblies if on a particular day it is raining and even at times to conduct exams.

There are also basic amenities like water coolers and washrooms.

A typical school day starts at 8 am with an assembly which goes on for at most half an hour typically after which classes start. In a day there are at least 8 periods of 40–45 minutes. There is an interval after the 4rth period when students can have their lunches which they have brought from home. On weekends the schedule is light and usually the 7tha and 8th period is for club activities.
